The funding model

Newsletter ads fund the seats. Members pay nothing.

Seats Forever is free to join. Membership costs nothing. Revenue comes from brands who buy ad slots in our newsletter to reach a verified, capped, engaged community of sports fans. That revenue is used to purchase face-value tickets, which are given away by lottery to members.

How the revenue flow works

  1. Members join free — email only, no payment.
  2. We publish a twice-weekly newsletter segmented by venue.
  3. Sponsors buy ad slots at a CPM scaled to list size and engagement.
  4. Ad revenue is used to purchase face-value tickets on the open market.
  5. Tickets are given away by lottery to active members before each home game.

Why the cap matters for the business

Membership is capped at 107,501 — the exact seating capacity of Michigan Stadium. A capped, exclusive list has meaningfully higher open rates than an open one. Higher engagement commands higher CPMs from sponsors. More revenue per issue means more seats purchased and given away. The cap is not a marketing trick — it's what makes the economics work.

Additional revenue sources

  • Direct sponsorships. Brands that want deeper access — event co-sponsorship, member activations, featured content.
  • Ticketing affiliates. When members want premium seats we can't give away, we route through partners and earn a referral fee.

Transparency

We publish a quarterly report listing newsletter ad revenue, tickets purchased, tickets given away, and remaining balance in the Seats Forever fund. Members can audit the numbers at any time.
