How it works
Free to join. Newsletter-funded. Seats given away.
Seats Forever is a free member community for Michigan football fans. Membership costs nothing. We run a newsletter, sell ad spots to brands who want a real verified fan list, and use that revenue to buy face-value tickets. Every home game, members enter the lottery. Winners get seats.
Step 1 — Join free
- Drop your email. That's the whole signup.
- You get a permanent member number, locked at signup. Lower numbers go to earlier members.
- Membership is capped at 107,501 — the exact capacity of Michigan Stadium. Once we hit that cap, new signups go to a waitlist and the doors close permanently.
- No annual fees. No upgrades. No hidden cost. Ever.
Step 2 — Read the newsletter
Twice a week, you get a short, well-written dispatch tuned for Michigan football fans. We sell two ad spots per issue to local and national brands. They pay for access to a verified, engaged fan list. That's the entire revenue model — no subscription fees, no upsells, no paywalls.
The economics: a capped, high-engagement list commands significantly higher CPMs than an uncapped, low-engagement one. Keeping membership hard to get is what makes sponsors willing to pay well for it. Higher CPM means more ad revenue per issue, which means more seats purchased and given away.
Step 3 — Win seats by lottery
Newsletter ad revenue is used to buy face-value tickets on the open market. Every home game, every active member is entered into the lottery. Winners are drawn at random and receive their tickets electronically a few days before the game.
- Each home game is a fresh draw. You do not carry losses over.
- Tickets are face value — no markup, no fees added by us.
- If you win and can't go, you can pass the entry to another member or release it back to the pool.
- We do not allow resale of giveaway seats.
Why the cap at 107,501?
107,501 is the official capacity of Michigan Stadium. The cap is not a gimmick. A capped, exclusive list has meaningfully higher open rates and engagement than an uncapped one. Higher engagement means higher CPMs, which means more revenue, which means more seats to give away. The cap protects what makes the program work. Once a venue fills, it closes permanently. Early members hold founding numbers that will not be reissued.
Where the money to buy seats comes from
- Newsletter ads. Two slots per dispatch, twice a week. Local and national brands pay for access to a real fan list.
- Direct sponsors. Brands that want deeper integration with the community — event co-sponsorship, featured placements, member activations.
- Ticketing affiliates. When members want premium seats we cannot give away, we route through partners and earn a referral fee.
- No membership fees. The program is free to join and free to stay in. Revenue comes from sponsors, not members.
The independence
Seats Forever is not affiliated with any team, league, conference, or venue. We buy tickets the same way anyone else does — on the open market. We use geographic descriptors instead of trademarked names because we do not need to imply anything we do not have. Our independence is a feature, not a bug.
