- Open-air ballpark. The signature 322-foot water spectacular and fountains sit beyond the outfield in right-center, with the crown-shaped scoreboard in center. Home plate faces roughly northeast toward the outfield fountains. A 2009 renovation modernized the concourses and outfield experience while keeping the original bowl and fountains.
Neighborhood
In the Truman Sports Complex about 10 miles east of downtown Kansas City off I-70, sharing the campus with the NFL stadium next door. This is a suburban drive-and-tailgate ballpark ringed by parking, not a walkable downtown park; there is no restaurant district within walking distance, so the pre-game scene happens in the lots.
What it feels like
One of the most photogenic parks in the sport thanks to the outfield fountains, and a comfortable, family-forward atmosphere. Because it sits in a sports complex rather than a city grid, the day is built around the parking lots: tailgating is the pre-game culture here, with barbecue smoke over the asphalt on summer weekends. The bowl is wide and open, the sightlines are clean, and the fountains lit up at night are the reason to stay for the full nine.

Kansas City barbecue is the headline: burnt ends, pulled pork, and sausage on the concourses, plus local sauces. Look for the barbecue stands and the loaded-nacho and brisket options alongside standard ballpark fare and a good regional beer list.
Food and pre-game outside
No walkable restaurant district; the food scene is the tailgate lots. Bring your own grill and cooler, or eat before you leave downtown or the eastern suburbs on the drive in.
