- Open-air stadium (Carter-Finley Stadium). A bowl with a large lower deck wrapping the field, an upper deck and press tower along the west sideline, and the Wendell Murphy Football Center and premium areas on one end; the field runs roughly north-south with clean sightlines across the bowl.
Neighborhood
West of downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, set by the state fairgrounds and next to the NHL hockey arena rather than on the NC State main campus. The stadium is ringed by large surface parking lots that make it one of the great tailgating venues in the region; it is a drive-in setting a few miles from the campus core and downtown Raleigh.
What it feels like
One of the best tailgating scenes in the ACC, built around the huge lots by the fairgrounds. Fans arrive early and set up across the asphalt for hours, the student section and the Power Sound of the South marching band drive the noise, and red-clad Wolfpack fans pack the bowl. The tuition-free acres of parking and the adjacent hockey arena give it a proper stadium-district feel, and rivalry weekends against nearby ACC foes bring the whole Triangle out. The bowl gets loud when it fills.

- Interstate 40 and Wade Avenue reach the fairgrounds area west of downtown Raleigh; Trinity Road and Edwards Mill Road feed the stadium lots.

- No rail service; this is a drive-in venue. Game-day shuttles run from some remote and campus lots, but most fans arrive by car to tailgate.

- Designated drop-off zones on the roads around the stadium. Post-game surge is heavy as the big lots empty at once; walking toward the lot exits before requesting a ride helps.

Open-air. Early-season September games in North Carolina are hot and humid; bring sun protection and water. November games can turn cold and windy in the open bowl, so layer up late in the year.
Food inside
Concessions run to North Carolina barbecue and standard stadium fare: pulled pork and Carolina-style barbecue, hush puppies, and burgers and dogs alongside regional craft beer. The Carolina barbecue stands are the local-color pick.
Food and pre-game outside
No walkable restaurant district; the pre-game food scene is the huge fairgrounds tailgate lots, which are the whole point here. Downtown Raleigh a few miles east has a full restaurant scene for before or after.
Accessibility
ADA seating with companion seats on multiple levels and accessible routes from the main gates. Accessible parking in lots near the entrances; request the closest when you secure a permit. Game-day shuttles serving the stadium are accessible.
Worth knowing before you go
- Arrive early to tailgate; the big fairgrounds lots are one of the best tailgate scenes in the ACC.
- The single stadium-district exit backs up after games; leaving a touch early or lingering past the rush both beat the worst of it.
- Bag policy is limited, typically a clear-bag policy; check the current sizing on the team site before you go.
